Easy Home Sleep Deprivation Test

If you often feel like you need more sleep, even after a full 9 hours, you might be sleep deprived. 

There’s a really simple home test to see if you’re getting enough. If you want, you can also watch the reel I made which shows you a handy visual of exactly what to do!

Step 1

Grab a spoon and put a metal tray on the floor beside your bed.

Step 2

Lie on the bed with your arm holding out the spoon over the tray.

Step 3

Set a timer on your phone for 15 minutes with an alarm at the end, this is in case you miss the tray!

Step 4

Relax and try to fall asleep, if you nod off, you’ll drop the spoon onto the tray and the noise will wake you up. 

Step 5

As soon as you’re awake, check the timer and see how much time has passed. 


If you’ve fallen asleep within 5 minutes, you’re definitely sleep deprived and you still have some catching up to do, keep those early night’s coming.

If you make it to 10 minutes, you’re not doing too bad but try to get a few extra long nights of sleep.

If you make it to 15 minutes, you’re obviously getting a great amount of sleep so don’t change a thing.
