Fire Cider: A Powerful Immune Tonic
Fire cider is a traditional folk remedy that combines immune-boosting ingredients in a potent, warming tonic. This spicy vinegar preparation helps stimulate circulation, support digestion, and strengthen your body's natural defenses.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 10 cloves of garlic, crushed or chopped
- 1 chilli
- Zest and juice from 1 lemon
- 1 fresh grated ginger root
- Half fresh grated horseradish root
- 1 Tbsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne powder

Instructions
- Chop up your vegetables, spices and herbs and place them in a large glass container with a tight-fitting lid (like a Kilner jar)
- Fill the jar with apple cider vinegar and add 1 tbsp of honey if you like, leaving a gap at the top to make it easy to shake the jar daily
- Stir the contents well and close the lid tightly
- Label the jar with the contents and date made, and place in a cupboard or cover with a towel to keep out the light
- Shake daily for 14 days and then press out and pour into dark glass bottles
- Label and store in the fridge for up to 12 months

Usage & Storage Tips
Take 1-2 tablespoons daily as a preventive tonic, or sip small amounts when feeling unwell. The longer it steeps, the more potent it becomes.
